Works well to keep the lights in place on top of a screen enclosure to prevent an accidental fire if the lights were to be tipped off.I use zooterra enclosures and the screen mesh was a little narrow to use the hooked ends as they came. Had to use plyers to open them up a bit so I could attach them. Outside of that, they work great.

Ordered some of these to go with matching Zilla mini domes, and upon opening the domes, I observed that they *include* an apparatus almost identical to this one. There is one very important difference though: the one that comes with the Zilla domes is smaller in diameter, so it sits higher up on the dome - this is fine if your domes are resting directly on a mesh lid of tank/bin/enclosure/whatever, but if you attach the legs to your mini domes, the included spring clips' springs are too short, and will over-extend if you try to secure them to the top of your enclosure lid with the legs attached. Not this one! These spring clips are about 50% wider in diameter, so they sit lower on the dome, and the springs then can reach comfortably all the way to the enclosure lid without over-extending. Great if you're using the domes for smaller enclosures and want the light source further away so it doesn't burn the animals inside.

This product is great for keeping my hedgehogs heat lamp in place on top of the cage. I no longer have to worry about my dogs knocking it over and starting a fire.

These clips are the best answer I've found for attaching heat lamps and similar devices to the screen top of terrariums. Each clip takes less than 10 seconds to install. I had both the heat lamp and the UV lamp attached to the screen top, semi-permanently, in less than a minute! We can now access our tortoise's terrarium in no time at all by simply lifting the screened top and leaning it and the attached lamps against the back wall. Excellent value!

Does what its intended to do. But need to be careful of thinner screen mesh like on exo terra enclosures it can damage the mesh

I purchase these clips for all of our terrariums in order to combat our curious cat and rambunctious dog and I suspect they’ll come in handy when we have our next earthquake. It’s also nice not to have to take hot lamps off the top whenever we open a lid.Although they work great for heavy duty screen tops, they don’t appear to have been developed for the finer window-type screening which many companies (including Exo Terra) use for their terrariums. The space between the wires on the lids is the same as the diameter of the wire that Zilla uses for their springs which makes installing them a pain. Because the spring clips put a considerable amount of tension on the lid in order to keep the lights in place, the screen can also tear out easily. To get around this, we either use pieces of circuit board or large diameter washers underneath the screen and attach the clips to those. Both solutions dissipate the pressure over a larger area so the screen is not damaged (see photos). We also modify the spring clips so we can lock down LED strips and fluorescent hoods along with the single and double dome fixtures. I’ve included photos of these, too. Overall, although they are well made and sturdy, they get pricey (especially for what they are) when you have multiple terrariums (we use an average of four sets per tank) and you have to buy the single packs. By purchasing a 3 pack, I saved $1.50 so you basically get 6 clips for the price of 5 single pack. I’ll definitely purchase more as needed as I consider them a necessary accessory.

These are very easy to use. Must buy if you constantly have to open a screen cage with lights on top.
